I know Oppo isn't a gaming blog (unless racing game), but I'm such a casual gamer that posting to an actual gaming site scares me. Gamers be scary, yo.

I don't really pay attention to games news, so even though I heard bits and pieces about this game, it mostly caught me off guard. So when I saw a few lets plays in my YouTube feed last night, I decided to check it out. What's funny is, the guys doing the lets plays were in the same boat. Not usual people to be playing games like this, but they were a fan of the show.

Now I too WAS a fan of the show, but back in its hey-day. And that's the point I want to bring up, and why I think this game is so enticing to me.

In just watching the first hour or so of gameplay, it brings up so many of the classic episodes and characters, it was like a big nostalgia trip to me. Now, I haven't seen an episode of South Park in YEARS, so for all I know they've been recycling old jokes and whatnot for the lulz. But it was like a trip down memory lane, with a bit of RPG turn based combat built in (also, not my thing) in between tons of poop and Jew jokes, of course.

I dunno, I have been playing State Of Decay (zombie survival) and some GTA V lately, but without the budget to step up to a "Next Gen" console, I fear I may be out of gaming options soon. This may just be my next purchase.

Check out the Kotaku review on it. He said it was funny and a good game but did have some glitches.

I'm a pretty avid gamer, so I'll give my take.

I've seen the previews for this for a while on steam, and while it definitely looks interesting, I'm not sure if I would jump on the opportunity to spend 60 bucks on a questionable RPG. That being said, the game does look fun, but I'm going to have to see more reviews and feedback, and ideally a nice steam sale before I make the purchase; feedback so far on Reddit has been pretty positive though. If this game were to come remotely close to my expectations, it needs to play somewhat like Castle Crashers. If you haven't played that game before, I can't recommend it enough; it was made by the same team behind Alien Hominid (the little flash based side scroller) and I'll be damned if it hasn't been the most fun I've had playing any similar RPG.

My two cents? Regardless of if you want the game or not, instead of investing in a "next-gen" console that has less power and graphical fidelity than current midrange desktops, spend that money (and maybe a little bit more) on building a gaming PC. The cost of entry is slightly higher than a console, but when you consider that console games are always $60 a pop, PC easily pulls ahead. Sales on steam are frequent, and it's rare that I spend even half that on a typical game purchase. Better yet, I can still use my XBOX360 controller to play games on PC that I don't feel comfortable playing on a mouse and keyboard, notably racing games, but the occasional arcade game as well.

For example: Bioshock Infinite was $10, LA Noire was $5, FarCry 3 was $20, Dirt 3 was $20, and Grid 2 was $20. For 60$ I got 3 games, for another $15 I had a total of 5. If you play new games often, a new gaming PC will practically pay for itself. If you need help putting together a list of compatible parts for your build, I'd be happy to help you myself or give you some of the resources I used to build my first PC at 12.

The show hit a bit of a slump for a while. Even Matt and Trey admitted it in the Seven Days To Air documentary. It has, however, improved again and I would say that it is back to being as good as it was in its early days. They play around with the format a little bit more and try new things that are sometimes hit and miss. Over all just as good as ever.

Kotaku is blocked at work (as is Jezebel THANK GOD) and I always forget to check on there when at home. The comments are horrible though. Probably just as bad as our FP.

Maybe worse, its fan boy central. The summary of their review was that it is fun and funny but had lots of glitches, so its best to wait until some of them are hammered out.

This is the kind of reply I feared.

I have played/owned literally 10 video game titles. I had a PC once I tried to play games on. That was around 1999.

I'll stick to just farting around in racing games or other games that catch my eye, like this one.

Maybe it's me that's outgrown the show. Stuff that was funny to me in my 20's is still funny, but I think for more of a nostalgic look back and remember when kind of scenario.

If you don't play games often, then the accessibility of a console is a huge selling point. Plug it in, and play.

Different strokes for different folks. Only reason I regret not having an XBOX One is for Forza 5, but everyone has their reasons.

Can't be much glitchier than State Of Decay. That, and the poor visual look of the game... but somehow it ads to the allure, and the game is just damn good and fun to play for me. Plus you can rocket a car into a horde of zombies and blood and body parts go a flyin'.

And I was a big Forza fan, but nothing about 5 is making me even think of saving up for a Xbone.

From what I understand, F5 has about half the cars of F4 and less tracks. Because of that, I've been browsing craigslist for someone desperate to get rid of their X360 and F4 at the same time.

I've been holding onto FM4 for some reason... just haven't been able to trade it/sell it. Also haven't played since before GTA V came out.

It's very throwback to old South Park. I played it for 5 hours yesterday, it's god damned hilarious.

A lot of reviews are talking about bugs, I only had two issues yesterday (on PC): one of the early tutorials bugged out, I had to back out to a previous save, but no big deal. Another one characters faces were missing, that was really weird but fixed itself.

The gameplay is actually solid. Exploring South Park is fun, and as someone who typically doesn't like turn based RPGs the action is fun and not overly challenging. Of course the writing and animation make the game, it's everything you'd expect from South Park. Al Gore shows up, and everything with him was the funniest thing I've experienced in a long time.

From what I've been playing, it's a great game. If you've been watching videos of gameplay and aren't bothered by the gameplay itself, I say pick it up. If you aren't a huge fan of the style of the game (turn based RPG), wait for it to go on sale then suffer through it for the sake of the jokes.

Also, I'd get it on PC if your computer can support it. If not PC, it's on PS3 and Xbox 360, so just get the game for those. This certainly isn't a 'next gen' showcase. It's South Park. It looks exactly like the show. It's almost creepy when you start, it's weird to interact with the South Park world in this way.

Watching reruns of old episodes, the show has just changed. It used to be generally original in the sense that it didn't pander to current events. Overall it was just a show about some asshole children. Now it seems to be all about the fast production in that almost every episode is something related to what's 'hot' in the news that week. I still enjoy the show, but it's quite a bit different now than it used to be.

Pound for pound exactly what I thought of it. Plus, I heard the PC version is uncensored, or is that just the UK version that doesn't allow the anal probe bit?

The last version I personally owned was F3. I haven't actually played GTAV yet, since it's only on consoles still. I watched my brother play it a little bit, but I wasn't impressed by the graphics at all.

Gameplay is solid though, I'm sure. I sunk a lot of time into GTAIV.

I think the US versions are all uncensored. There was definitely an anal probing bit. A few of them. They were hilarious. And disgusting.
